History of Palmetto Fur The Season
Palmetto Fur The Season was founded in January 2025, but the idea started in September 2024.
When Lightz and Baja, two furry vendors in trade, were vending at South Carolina Anime and Comic conventions, they realized how many furries were at these conventions who had no idea about each other or their community in their backyard, amazed by the scale of how many furries there are in South Carolina.
"There are so many furries, but so many of us are spread out, and state-organized meets for us to organize at are very rare. I strongly believe that South Carolina has the furry population to support a South Carolina-based convention. However, before jumping into that, we want to start with seasonal meets first to learn from and put some numbers on paper instead of jumping headfirst into organizing a convention.” - Lightz.
When will PFTS go from a quarterly meet/mini convention to more of a formal convention?
“Well, first, I want our staff team to have experience with running events through PFTS. Second and most importantly, I want to host PFTS in at least 3 different locations across the state. Greenville, Colombia and Charleston are the three main ones I have in mind. I want to see what locations not only bring out the most amount of furries, but are accessible to all across the state. Lastly, I have an attendance number in mind that once PFTS hits consistently, I will seriously start talking with more individuals and connections/mentors I have about gaining footing for our own South Carolina state-based convention” -Lightz.
To put it bluntly, Palmetto Fur The Season is a temporary mini-convention that takes place seasonally in different major cities in South Carolina. Palmetto Fur The Season's main goal is data collection for an eventual South Carolina Furry Convention. Palmetto Fur The Season is ran by the Palmetto Anthro Collective which currently working towards a 501c3 nonprofit status. We are very transparent about everything. The Palmetto Anthro Collective put furry fandom artists first. We encourage creativity by showcasing the connection and compassion that is the life of the furry fandom.
